I have Verizon DSL service. For the past few months DSL speed has been very slow. We get DSL through a Westell 6110 Modem and a router. Speeds were very slow with a Linksys router, so I bought a DIR-655, but the service is still very slow (both cable and wireless).
If I bypass the router and connect direct to the modem, speed is OK (Download ~750kbps). If the router is in the middle (Speakeasy) download speed drops to ~370kbps, and downloading often stop altogether for a minute or two. Ordinary webpages can take several minutes to download. VOIP is hopelessly broken up.
So, what's the problem? What can I do?

Other posts have suggested to set the WAN port speed to either 10 or 100. It seems that a WAN port set to "Auto" speeds can cause these type of slow downs.
