Title: Given up on DIR-825
Post by: twlawson on October 06, 2009, 10:17:58 AM
Well, I have given up on this router. It worked fine before the latest firmware updates, but I have had constant lockups and dropouts with the current firmware for 4-5 months and still no resolution. I ordered a NetGear WNDR3700 and hopefully this will perform better than the abysmal 825 did.

It probably will.  The reviews have been quite good for the WNDR3700.  Good luck.

Did you see the newest Netgear product about to be released?  Here's a link to the appropriate Netgear page: http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/RangeMaxWirelessNRoutersandGateways/WNR3500L.aspx

It appears the unit has all the (now expected) bells and whistles but they're also inviting several outside software manufacturers to develop apps for it.  Priced right too at $135.

Checking for Netgear user feedback it appears there are a few niggling issues here and there but nothing like the angst expressed on D-link forums.

Cheers

It seems like a good choice if you do not need dual band. I wanted to stick with something with 5 GHz though so I can stream media to my HDTV with as much bandwidth as possible.
