Title: DIR-855 wont connect to internet

I bought a BNIB DIR-855 off eBay and it was all good for a while. After about a month of ownage; the internet stopped working. The internet status just said connected and establishing, yet never managed to connect. Contacted eBay seller got no response to daily messages for over a week. Contacted D-Link tech support and they said no warranty cos came from eBay. :(

After occasionally trying it again (I've found things like this sometimes fix themselves after a month in the cupboard); the screen stopped working. The blue light on the front comes on, but no screen display. However, when I connect the Ethernet, the router operating system assigns an IP and works fine. The internet status still says cable: connected and connection: establishing (even when there is no cable connected) If I assign static ISP details the router says connection: established, but this no good because my ISP uses DHCP. I have installed firmware 1.21NA from 1.12 and still get same issue and no screen display.

If I can't get it working; I guess I'll have to live with a $250 network hub! Yikes!

Isn't disheartening just how bad Dlink customer service is how reficously bad their firmware has been lately!

You should of never went to the 1.21.  The 1.12 isn't that bad in my case.  I get moderate wireless errors on the 2.4GHz channels only but it runs well other than that.  There's nothing that could happen to my 855 that would make me flash it higher than the 1.12.

The original fault occurred on 1.12. I put on the new firmware in trying to fix it. Do you think that trying to install older firmware might work?

Unfortunately, D-Link has made things so you can't roll back your firmware so you're stuck with it in it's current state unless you can get them to RMA it.  D-Link seems to at least be working towards fixing the issues with the DGL-4500 so hopefully they won't forget about this model as well.  They're based on some of the same hardware so issues fixed on one might translate into issues fixed on another.
