Title: Disable WAN access with the Router Firewall
Post by: chrbar on October 10, 2009, 09:34:11 PM
Hello,
I've a Dlink VPN Router DI-804HV (http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=DI-804HV).
I've connected a Switch (24 ports) to a LAN Port of my Router (the Dlink VPN Router DI-804HV includes 4 10/100Mbps LAN Ports). To protect (from WAN) the VLAN of this Switch, I would have wanted to turn off the LAN Port of my Router. But we don't have control on the LAN Ports to turn on/off them. Thus, I want to create a Firewall rule which has the same result.
If my Firewall rule is:
Action
Name
Source
Destination
Protocol
Deny
Internet
*,*
LAN,192.168.1.1-192.168.1.253
*,*
Do you think that my VLAN 192.168.1.0 won't be connected to Intenet (and to others LAN too)?
You can check this emulator router at http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di804hv/hwiz.htm
Thanks a lot, Chris

If you have a VLAN it is not going to be communicating with this router (it does not support VLANs)
Additionally as it does not have a IP in their network it couldn't route traffic to them even if it could communicate with the VLAN.
