Title: Dir-825 and SharePort Utility
Post by: cessna1466u on October 12, 2009, 12:38:17 PM
Hey folks quick question. I have the Dir-825 and a 2tb USB drive connected to the USB port ont he router. I am using the Shareport utility and it connects fine but seems to drop the connection and lock up my computer when I try to transfer large files from my computer to that USB drive on the usb port on the router. Any ideas, did I miss a setting some were? Thanks

You didn't miss anything. You bought a product that doesn't work.

I'm planning on buying a new router from any company other than DLINK.

Do a search on this forum, you'll see how many people got ripped off buying a product that freezes, has to be constantly rebooted, and drops connections.

Don't be so hard on D-Link.. after all , it is a ROUTER not a NAS.  If you are in need of solid storage, grab yourself a DNS-323.. I have one, and it's amazing.

Routers should ROUTE and that is all.  I don't even use the router to do dhcp or dns... I have a separate box for all that.  It works well for home users, but don't expect the moon for a product that is under $200.
