Title: MEDIA SERVER (MediaServer) crashes.
Post by: ethnet on October 13, 2009, 08:10:21 AM

I have a pc with XP Pro.  I installed the D-Link MediaServer on it and when
I log in as the Administrator it works perfectly.  However if someone who is NOT
an Administrator logs in, when they run the D-Link MediaServer, it crashes upon execution.

Does anyone know how I can make it so that anyone can run this software regardless of their
user account restrictions?

The component crashing is "MEDIASERVERGUI"

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried running it as admin on the user? Right clicking on the file to open the program should give you the option to run as.

If I were to do that, which means I have to give the admin credentials to the restricted user, it defeats the purpose of them being restricted.  It would make much more sense to just log on as the administrator.

I am posting here to solve this issue from a standpoint of having the program perform normally regardless of the user account that is currently logged in.  This is just to clarify so potential posters understand my request.

This program must be run as Admin to run properly.
