Hi,
New to the forums, i run a DNS 323 with 2x250GB Seagate Sata HDD's and have a laser printer attached, set up is Raid 1. Around 11 PC's back up their individual data on to the 323 several times a day through the LAN. Backup software i use is Second Copy.
Have been using the unit since April 09 with very little trouble.
This past week i was going out of of town and for some weird reason i went out on a Sunday to buy a 1TB USB drive and backed up all my data on it and left it at home.
I return to the office this morning and all my data is gone... i can find Volume 1 on the network, i enter it but there is absolutely nothing there.
I log into the interface but it asks me to pick an option for formatting just like when i popped in the drives for the first time. I am pretty confused as to how this would happen?
any ideas? if i didn't have the USB back up i am pretty sure i would have collapsed then and there. in fact believe it or not, i am home sick right now coz my stomach went for a doozy.
cheers,
Skinny.

All I can say is pull the drive out and put it into a linux pc, or a windows PC with the ext2IFS drivers from here http://www.fs-driver.org/, and see if the data is there...
Then at least you can make a couple of backups and reformat the 323.
Did you upgrade to v1.08?

Had this happen to my unit a couple of months ago, had not done any updates at that point. Try removing the drives and reinserting them. Don't know why, but mine came back 100%. No problems since.

hi,
i backed up most of the data on a 3rd USB drive, so i have all the data. no worries there. i reformatted and reset up the drives.
just wanted to know what would prompt something like this.. i dont think i am using 1.8 thought.. ill double check tomorrow.

Well, I have had no issues like that with any of the firmware versions, so I don't know what to tell you. :)
