Title: AP Mode + Using the 3 other ports
Post by: sounder on October 17, 2009, 01:30:23 PM
I'm confused about a configuration concept and perhaps somebody can explain it to me.

I have a Netopia modem/router to which I've connected 3 DAP-1522 in AP mode.

I changed each local AP IP to: .1.51, 1.52, 1.53

I then connected a desktop computer hardwired to the #2 LAN port of one of the APs.

Question is - If the AP has been given a static IP how does the computer that is hardwired (and configured to DHCP) to the AP function on the internet?  It seems to me that it would not be able to acquire an IP from an AP that has a static IP...

Thanks for your insight!

The host router gets a request from the connected device via the AP. The AP just relays this request from the device to the host router. It should work if the AP's are configure correctly and the gateways are set up.
