I have two DSM-520 players, each set up the same on two different TVs:
Wired (to a couple of D-Link Access Points)
Firmware: 1.06
HDMI
Western Digital MyBookWorld 1TB NAS w/ Twonky
I have had this set up for months now, with only the usual issues (some sound out of sync, and occasional file that won't play b/c of how it was encoded, etc), but nothing major - the family loves not having cable anymore.
Two days ago, the downstairs unit stopped playing any files at all. After ~20-30 seconds, it displays the "Unable to Open File" message with the "OK" button. The device connects to the server, navigates the folders, and displays all files on the 1TB HD, it just won't play anything.
The upstairs unit plays everything normally from the 1TB HD normally with no issues, which is what really makes this odd.
I pressed the pinhole "Reset" button on the back of the device, andafter the device rebooted, still the same results.
I rebooted the Twonky server as well, to no avail.
Any fixes, ideas, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Let me know of any other info I need to provide to help.
Thanks!

Looks like it is a naming conflict.. Make sure your DSMs have different names on the net.. Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply!
Both of the devices have had different names for the duration without conflicts (we have even occasionally had both devices pulling files from the same NAS).
Any other fixes or ideas?
Thanks again!

Have you tried power cycling the NAS and the D-Link access points?
Swapping the access points or the DSM's?
-
Well, strangely, cycling the access point did the trick! Now, if only I understood why that affected the DSM playback ability......
Either way, up and working again - thanks for the help!

It's unbelievable what we put up with these days. Computer acting strange? Reboot. Set top box acting up on the TV? Unplug for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Internet modem stop working? Power cycle the modem.
Glad that your problem is solved.
