I'm transferring a lot of files over to my new DNS-323 using FTP since I want to be able to pause and resume my transfers. Problem is, after transferring for a while (about 10 minutes), the DNS-323 starts giving me errors. Once this happens, it doesn't seem to recover from it on its own... I have to disable and re-enable the FTP server to be able to continue transferring files.
Here's the first error that I get:
[17:46:11] PASV
[17:46:11] 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,20,143,218)
[17:46:11] Opening data connection to 192.168.1.20 Port: 36826
[17:46:11] STOR FILE.JPG
[17:46:11] 425 Can't open data connection.
If I try to send the file again, I keep getting the following error:
[17:46:41] Remote file exist check: "FILE.JPG".
[17:46:41] SIZE FILE.JPG
[17:46:41] 213 0
[17:46:41] MDTM FILE.JPG

I just the unit... It came preloaded with firmware 1.03 and I have a single WD 500GB hard drive installed.
I'm using SmartFTP to transfer all the files over using the Transfer Queue.
Any idea what's causing this?

I have the exact setup. What ftp software are you using?
-
I'm using SmartFTP and the Transfer Queue to send the files. It seems to happen more often when I transfer lots of smaller files. And also more often when I'm using the wired LAN (less often when I'm using wireless).

hmmmm...what operating system?
I just finished downloading Smart FTP.... I have 1 laptop using Win XP and 1 using Win Vista Home Premium (32 bit). The DNS323 is attached to a wireless modem. I will test and see if I experience the same.
Did you download the latest Smart ftp? Just a thought.......
-
I have the latest version and I'm using Windows XP
-
I can't seem to get it running at all....
What ftp site/address do you go to and do you need to create an account there?
Thanks for your help!!!
-
You set up the FTP user accounts on the DNS-323 using the web interface and connect SmartFTP to its IP address. Check out the documentation to set it up.

i was having a similar problem but mine was only hapenning from certain pc's and would happen if i tried to access files via ie, firefox or filezilla. i just happened to buy a new router on boxing day and the problem went away when i changed it and resetup port forwarding on the new router. (my old one was a dlink wireless b one i think DI-514) oh and i was accessing files from work not home.
