Title: Moving IP to another machine and port forwarding taking a long time to realise
Post by: sicruise on October 27, 2009, 10:02:39 AM
I have a DFL-800 with port forwarding setup to a virtual IP in a VLAN. When one server goes down heartbeat running as a service will transfer the virtual IP to another machine.

The server can no longer be contacted for a while... after a time between 3mins and 15mins the server can be contacted again through the SAT setup. Nothing is changed in this time it is just like the firewall takes a long time to update.

After it can be contacted again it works perfectly until the IP changes servers again.

Traffic on the switch can still reach the virtual IP so I have ruled the switch out.

Is there a setting on the firewall that would effect this type of setup?

Well thanks for all the useful responses again!

ARP requests are switched off by default... nice
