Title: Shareport only works after a reboot
Post by: rkjnsn on October 31, 2009, 03:01:29 PM
I have a DIR-655 router, to which I have connected a scanner.  When I open the SharePort Utility, it shows the scanner in the list.  When I click connect, it says "Connecting to Canon CanoScan.  Please wait..."  However, nothing happens, and eventually the connecting message goes away and the device is still listed as "Available".

If I reboot the router, then I am able to connect and use the scanner.  However, when I try to use the scanner again a couple of days later, it has stopped working again, and I have to once again reboot the router.  This is a pain, especially because I have to make sure none of my roommates is using the internet, and if they are, I can't reboot the router, and thus can't use the scanner.

Firmware Version: 1.32NA
Hardware Version: A4
SharePort Utility Version: 1.1.0 R1 (SXUPTP Driver: 3.3.4.0)

Save your breath. D-Link admits there is an issue with SharePort but doesn't really give damn that it affects you and so many others. It is unbelievable that they would not only let this issue linger, but that they actually promote the wonders of Shareport on their website to catch more victims. Once they have your money, they don't really have to do anything for you, do they?
