Just picked up my DIR-655 router with a DWA-552 wireless network adapter. I have followed all the setup procedures and I am getting 300 Mbps but the signal strength is low. My old Trendnet (Realtek RTL8187B) usb wireless network adapter connects at 54 Mbps and the signal strength is excellent. I would think the DWA-552 would have an excellent signal considering it has 3 antennas. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance! :)

I have a related issue. I have a DIR-655, just 5 meters away behind a wall and a Linksys WPC300N in my laptop. I also have a DWA-140 in another PC. When I install the DWA-140 on my laptop I even have a much lower speed and lots of dropping connections.
With the WPC300N I have a better connection but noticed that the transmit and receive signals vary significantly between 54mbps and 270mbps; most of the time just 108mbps. Only when I sit next to the DIR-655 with my laptop I get 300/300mbps sporadically with the WPC300N.
I have 1.32NA installed.
Is it normal for such large variations in speed? How can I stabilize this? Or is it "just" a firmware issue which will be solved soon?
thanks,
Etienne
P.s. I hope dlink and linksys (cisco) will firmware upgrade their hardware for final 802.11n.

Since I tweaked my laptop's adapter setting for wireless N (In Device Manager, made sure it was set to auto, not forced 20 MHz), I get connection speeds ranging from 65 - 300 Mps, 150 being typical.
The router, when it senses communication, will bump up the speed. When I transfer files from desktop to laptop, or vice versa, I do see a stable 300 Mps connection speed. Sometimes it'll go down to 270 Mps, but mostly 300 Mps.
I am running 1.32NA.
I have my router setup based on these posts:
