I mean no hard feelings,
but i went out and spent the extra 300 dollers USD.
for the dgl-4500,
I had posted asking for more mac filter entries to be allowed on my dns-655 but i was told by him that this is a hardware limitation. he said
"The units resources only allow for 24 entries. If you need mroe then I suggest looking at a DGL-4500 as it does not have a pre-determined amount of entries."
in this post is where it happened: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=7365.0
so the question is now did he lie? or has the firmware changed, and will it go back up?
Please help!

Just curious, did you happen to do any research before buying ur 4500? ??? You need more than 24 mac filters? Makes me wonder if your need a high qty of filters, maybe your needing a different type of router, Something more along the lines of business and corporate? :-\

Ok, obviously I need to explain this to you.
the 4500, UNLIKE THE 655, does not have 24 pre-defined windows for MAC addresses. What I said was if you need more then 24, then the 4500 does not have this 24 entry limitation.
However the 4500 will be limited by the number of other user defined entries made.
In other words every DHCP reservation, MAC entry, schedule, port forward rule, QoS rule, all take away from the same memory pool.
Now that you understand I'm going to lock this thread.
