Hi,
Can anyone provide some info on the data transfer rate under Raid 5 setup on a 100Mb network? I have the DNS-321 setup as Raid 1 on 100Mb network, and I've been getting about 8-9 MByte/s when writing data. I understand that Raid 5 requires more CPU processing but not sure how much slow down I should expect in real life. Thanks in advance for your info.

Generally the 343 is faster than the 323... if you do a search you can find places that have done reviews of both...
however, given the current problems with the 343 (freezes/>1 day syncing/intermittent slow data transfer rates) I would not recommend you purchase this product

Thanks for the response. Does it mean that the 343 will perform better than the 8-9 MB/s on a 100Mb network? What I want to know is whether the RAID 5 setup will drag down the performance. And if so, by how much?
Also thanks for the "warning". I've been following the "freeze" thread very closely, and I'm planning to give it a shot once D-Link has resolved the issue. (I will be very dissappointed if, after all the great help from this user community, D-Link still could not resolve or even reproduce the issue within reasonable timeframe.)

This is the review I read:
http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30535/75/
which has comparison of RAID 0/1/5 performance...

Thanks again for the link. I guess RAID 5 throughput is still greater than my 100Mb network limit :-)

I had the same transfer rate at 100mbps. After upgrading to !Gb, the rate doubled to about 16M/s. For some reason it runs 25-30Mb/s on Mac.
