I have a DNS-343, fw 1.03 with 4 x 1TB WD Caviar Green SATA II configured as RAID 5 and ext3 file-system.
The client machine is running Windows XP SP3 with English (United Kingdom) language.
When I create a folder containing accentuated characters I cannot rename or delete the folder in file explorer (I can rename and delete these folders through the command line).
The error message is "Cannot rename [folder name]: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name."
Creating these folders on the local disk of the client allows all operations without errors. Here are some examples:
\\server\Volume_1\à
\\server\Volume_1\ã
\\server\Volume_1\æ
\\server\Volume_1\å
\\server\Volume_1\á
\\server\Volume_1\â
\\server\Volume_1\ä
could someone confirm this behaviour ? thanks

I created a folder named //volume_1/á on my DNS-343 using firmware 1.03 and was able to delete the folder after creation in explorer.

tx for your reply, did you use XP as a client ?
any particular reason for the forward slashes instead of back slashes ? cheers

My bad...typed it backwards...I used Win7. I will try it in XP when I get a chance to locate an XP machine.
