Title: ADS Active Directory map a drive with windows 7
Post by: njoylif on November 12, 2009, 12:05:41 PM
Hey,
I have an issue where my NAS is set up for ADS and that works for my XP stations, but my Windows 7 stations can not successfully log in (to map a drive, but FTP works).
I've tried every combo of login I can think of.
for testing:
The Windows firewall was turned off
I've also set the sharing properties to the most lenient possible, turning media streaming on, etc..
I can log into actual domain server shares, hence my thought it might be on the NAS side...
any thoughts?

also forgot to mention, I can log into a 323 NAS (not using ADS) from same windows 7 box.
thanks for any help.

If Windows 2008 doesn't work, I would guess Windows 7 as well. There is another thread on AD mode for DNS343. It was mentioned in that thread by DLink staff that Windows 2008 not working right now with firmware 1.03.

Interesting...I logged into one of my windows 2008 servers (logging into that domain) and it connected with no issues.
When I try to log into the NAS from my windows 7 machine, I am not logged into any domains, but I am trying to connect using domain credentials via:
       domain\user.name

I've also tried just using \user.name  but can't figure out what combo is needed..
thanks for the post!

I had no problems with Windows Server 2008 as well.
I can access the shares with \\ip_of_dns-343\Share    without having to enter any credentials, since the share is created for the user that is logged on the computer.

I answered this in another post...

Do this onWindows 7 machine.
Open up the local security policy by running secpol.msc

Navigate to Local Policies -> Security Policies

Change Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level to: Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.

I found the info here...
