I cannot believe its been 11 months since there has been a firmware upgrade
Im sorry 1.8 beta is not a release as it is in beta.
c'mon this was supposed to be the best NAS UPNP PS3/Xbox player and it can barely do anything well.
I constantly have to power cycle it
I feel like I have been beta testing this for a year b/c my intention is to install it in the basement out of sight but i am afraid that will not happen as I constantly have to tinker with it

Perhaps you should try to pinpoint why you have to constantly power cycle your DNS-323 - I'm not aware of any firmware issues with such a symptom since perhaps 1.02 or 1.02b - so I wouldn't be expecting a new firmware release to fix your problem.

I dunno i run the beta in the NAS and ive never had a problem with it, streams, HD, Blueray, mp3's , vids stores all my pictures, stores all my data files does everything it needs to do have never had to power cycle the unit been running for months never shut down once.
Most problems are problems caused by the users is that the case here

Thanks for the input krenkey - I've had my DNS-323 for just short of three years - it runs 24/7 and I've never had to power cycle it once. I am aware of a problem with the very early firmware in which the DST routines would cause it to hang, requiring a power cycle, but, since we don't use DST where I am, I have not personally experienced it - and like I said earlier, it was fixed many, many months ago.

System Up Time: 44 days 9 hours 43 minutes
The only reboots mine receives is if I have to move it or do something else. It's never given me a reason to reset it.

My 323 has been been up for months also with firmware 1.7 and it works great! The only reason why I had to take it down is because I installed a 2tb seagate drive with my 1.5.
