I have loaded Shareport onto 3 PCs on my network. It only works on one.
The PC it works on is running Vista and McAfee, and is connected using the Extreme N USB adapter. I didn't have to do anything special to get Sharport to work. Just installed it, and boom!, Shareport was running.
The two PCs it's not working on are running XP and Norton. For both of these, Shareport doesn't appear to "see" the Router. I have been troubleshooting on the PC I really need to have Shareport running on.
This PC is running XP Home Edition, SP3, and NIS 2010. It is "wired" to the Router. I updated to the latest version of Shareport. Windows Firewall is not enabled. Norton Internet Security is set to "allow" everything for Shareport. I have reset the Router several times. I have reset the PC several times. When I click on the red Shareport icon, it doesn't list the Router IP (as depicted in the Shareport user's manual).
The Router is running FW version 1.21. I have seen forum posts stating to use FW version 1.31, but I'm hesitant to upgrade the FW because of other forum posts I've seen about the stability of other FW versions (so I'm also looking for recommendations on exactly what FW version to upgrade to).
Suggestions on what to try next?
Thanks,
Mike

I would suggest to uninstall NIS 2010 and try to install shareport then.
You may install it later again and in most cases it recognizes the shareport connection correctly.
Which shareport version do you use ? 1.14/1.15 ?

device driver might be blocked by AV/FW

I followed lizzi555's recommendation, and SharePort is now working. Thanks!
Uninstalled SharePort and NIS, then reinstalled Shareport, then NIS, and it's working.
Thanks!

Hi all
I have same problem my solution was:
Do a trusted zone in my FW: 192.168.?.? / 255.255.255.0 and Subnet / trusted
?.? = depending on your net.
That make my day with shareport, version 1.15.
