I was once told in these forums MKV was going to be supported in DNS-323 FW 1.08. The status of FW 1.08 is beta08 so far and still haven't heard about MKV support.
Does anybody knows about this? I have my DNS-323 UPNP server running with my DSM-510, and am waiting for this pretty bad.

Yes the DNS-323 support MKV with the 1.08 beta code ever since the first beta was released.

can we get out of beta and release a final version already.
I am have enough chalenges with 1.07, im not about to put a beta on and have even more problems

Working on it...

Hello!
I had the 1.0.7 pre-installed with my unit.
Just upgraded it to "NAS202C_DLINKEu_DNS323.1.08b08(1.69.1125.2009)(BETA): version.
There is a difference - the *.mkv files are visible, but files reported as "unsupported data".
Did anyone managed to "work" *.mkv files?
regards,
skochele

The DSM-510 does not support MKV so it gives the unsupported data message.

R U kidding? That was this thread about, being able with DNS-323 to watch MKV videos on DSM-510. So what does DSN-323 supports?

The DSM-510 does not support MKV so the DNS-323 supporting MKV does not allow the DSM-510 to support MKV playback. Therefor using only these to device to stream media does not allow for MKV playback. You would need to run a media server such as Tversity on your PC to playback MKV on the DSM-510 and the files can be stored on the NAS or PC.

MKV and extending support for DIVX formats should be target(s) to expand on with all DLINK Upnp products.... dont you think? THAT too NATIVELY for all DSM products.....instead of relying on Free providers as TVersity and Playons (Those products certainly have give options which compliment the use of Upnp Clients).

Manusz...
I would give up talking here if I'm in your chair. You know why I'm saying this.
As we all know, DNS-323 and built in firmware is... Crap.
But, CPU of DNS-323 is far better then D-Link support - means: FAST.
Workaround:
Install some other media server (mediatomb) onto your DNS-323 as I did on my DNS-313. Check this page:
http://forum.dsmg600.info/index.php
On mediatomb page you can find step by step instructions how to transcode video on the fly in DNS-323 to MPEG2, so your DSM-510 can read it.
And, what's the best:
You don't break support by installing some other software in the box (I installed torrent app, http server, UPnP server, ftp secure server, better download manager...)... Some other guys installed Debian onto DNS-323.
