Title: Is it possible to add HD to existing RAID5

i have 3 drives setup for RAID5, can I add 1 more HD to Volume without affecting the data on the existing volume ?

No you will need to format the entire volume to add another drive.

/Bump

This still the case? 

I have volume_1 as raid 5, disk 1,2 & 3 all 1tb
and volume_2 as disk 4 with 1tb


Would like to merge disk 4 into the raid...possible? Any changes on this since Dec 2009?

Yes this is still the case. You will need to reformat the RAID as 4 drives from scratch.
