Title: Vertical for cooler operation?
Post by: uzun on December 09, 2009, 08:04:03 PM
I just purchased this router and so far no problems, but it seems to run pretty hot.  Does the unit cool more efficiently in the vertical configuration compared to horizontal?  Cooling wise is it safer to keep it vertical rather than horizontal?

I have put mine in the vertical position and it seems cooler. I also get better reception throughout the house. :) (probably NOT related, but I had to say it!!)

I have mine sitting on top of a laptop cooler that is plugged into the USB port.

Yes it does, simply because more of the exterior is exposed to airflow in the room.

Hell, mine is verticle and all the holes coverd with electrical tape to keep the lights invisible at night. No heat problems. Just 'cause it feels hot doesn't mean there's a problem.

Hi,

Make sure you pull the protective tape off the exterior....I think the air flow holes are important to be open....

And Yes vertical seems to help with natural cooling air currents....

The more wireless you put thru it, I would think the hotter it will get....
