Title: New iMac has trouble logging in to shared drive
Post by: cailia on December 10, 2009, 09:10:36 AM
Just bought a new iMac has snowleopard and can't log into the password-protected folder on my shared drive. Have no problem accessing drive that has no password. Any suggestions? I'm worried about updating firmware as it would take forever to back up the current data.

Yes, there is an issue with the DNS-323 with Snow Leopard.  D-Link fixed their problem with the beta FW version 1.08b5 (which I upgraded to just before upgrading our home machines to Snow Leopard and have been running without issue for a couple months now; I even risked it and didn't back up my data).

Or, I believe a temporary fix is to change the password on that share to something that's all-numeric.

Thanks. I'll try it. :)

I just tried this, doesn't work with all numeric for me, running 1.08 and SL 10.6.2

Annoying!
