Trying to setup email alerts to email account. Always getting failure when I test the settings. I am using FW 108b08_beta because I have a WD Caviar Green 2TB drive installed.
Help appreciated.
Thanks

try with smtp.gmail.com and you user nane and password. Any other config didn't work for me.
-
Thanks for your suggestion but it does not work with gmail either. Still getting failure.
-
How exactly do you have it configured? I've had no problem using this feature. Try using your ISP email account, they may be blocking port 25 as an anti-SPAM measure for other accounts.
-
Actually I'm using my ISP acct with port smtp 25. I'll have to see if they are blocking it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just checked with my internet provider it does not seems like anything at their end is stopping the email so I am puzzled on this problem ???. It seems to be a bug?
-
I have also noticed that the dns-323 system does not log the status of any of my attempts to send email alerts.
-
Here are my settings:
Login Method: Anonymous
SMTP Server: <isp mail server>
Sender Email: <my isp email address>
Receiver Email: <my isp email address>
Also, ensure that your router/firewall is not blocking outbound SMTP traffic.
HTH,

Just tried your suggested settings for my parameters also tried disabling all anti virus software and any firewalls, still getting email failure.

Resolved the problem. I had the 323 connected to the second lan port on my computer I changed the location and connected the 323 to my switch and it now works. Although I was able to move files between my PC and the 323 when it was directly connected to my PC, it couldn't seem to find a way to the internet on that connection to send the email. As you can tell I am not a network specialist by any means so I learned something today.
I guess the only question I have for anyone that can help is how can this be made to work with a direct connection to the second lan port on my PC to send email alerts? I suspect that it has something to do with the gateway ip setting.

Actually, connecting it to the second port had a number of problems, depending on the exact configuration of the two ports. If you had bridged them, you could have gotten a connection to the Internet. However, connecting directly to the router/switch is clearly the best way to connect these boxes, so that part is solved. :D
