Hello everyone
I am having so many problems trying to stream media to my PS3 using the DIR-655 (hardware 3A; Firmware 1.32NA) and am really getting frustrated. I have read so many forums with suggestions and none of them seem to fix my problem. So, I'm hoping someone here might have the solution *crosses fingers*
I am running TVersity on a Intel Core 2 Quad (Q9450) PC with 8GB RAM, two gig NICs on my mobo, running Windows 7 Pro. When streaming video, I use less than 5% of my CPU, less than 20% of my RAM, and about 3% of one of my NICs. So, I am 100% confident that this is not a hardware issue with my computer.
The media is transferred to my DIR-655 on a wired connection, through to my PS3 also on a wired connection. So, not using any wireless for this scenario.
At first, I couldn't get my TVersity media server to even see my PS3 (and vice-versa), but after turning off my windows firewall, un-installing my AVAST anti-virus, installing ESET Smart Security 4, and setting it up using the following settings (http://www.igoy.in/ps3-media-sharing-eset-smart-security-problem-solution/)... the two servers could communicate.
Then, I had a problem that when streaming videos (or just copying them) I would get a DLNA error at around 200MB into the transfer and it would crash... and by that I mean THE ROUTER would crash. It took me a while to figure out that it was the router than was crashing. I would have to unplug the router to restart it, and then all the connections would start working again. When the router "crashed", all connections stopped working (have another wired computer plus a wireless laptop which also lost connectivity) and I couldn't even get to the gateway (192.168.0.1). But, I read somewhere to stop this from happening, I had to disable the QoS option. So, after doing that... it worked!! :-)
... for a while. Now, it plays about 6GB of data, and then the same thing happens... it crashes! I sometimes get DLNA 2104 and sometimes I get "error 80030928" on the PS3. The router again is the failure point, as the ONLY way to get connectivity again is to reboot the router.
Please, send me your suggestions (or answers if you have them) as I really would love to be able to stream videos (especially HD (x264) videos) without having my entire network collapse.
Thanks you all!! Happy holidays! :-D
