Really D-Link? No 64bit support for Vista/Windows 7? Shame on you. Your customers have been asking for this for quite some time. Before I moved to Windows 7 64 bit, I ran Vista 64bit from the day it was released. Even back when a 64bit O/S was a novelty, I've never had a piece of software flat out refuse to install or run. I mean, it's been a couple of YEARS now. Get with the program, literally!
It's a shame because this seems like a reasonably priced, well made camera. It works well when I watch the feed from a browser, but I wanted to be able to do motion capture and all the other features that were promised on the box but not delivered because of this limitation. At the very least you should put on the box that a 32 bit O/S is REQUIRED.
Anxiously awaiting a software update that I fear will never come.....

+1 here...
Impatiently waiting for Dlink to "man up" and produce this promised update!!!

Yep! Very sad! It won't work on XP SP3 either.
I have access to 5 computers and they are all either XP SP3 or Vista 64 bit.
The DCS-920 Setup Wizard sure let me setup my cameras on my XP machine, but now I can't view them remotely.
I guess I need to go buy an antiquated computer? Unbelievable.

The D-ViewCam software works fine in WinXP SP3.
What exactly are you having an issue with in XP? Can you see cameras locally?
-
Hmmm!
I was just on the phone with D-Link's tech support and was told it would not work with SP3, it had to be SP2.
I can see the cameras fine on the local network, (cabin in the mountains), but now I am at home trying to install the D-ViewCam software on my home machines.
When trying to do the software install, I get a .NET Framework 2.0 error that states "low memory, low disk space or corrupted cabinet file", then the installation aborts. I've tried this on two XP machines with the same result.
The install disks that came with my cameras say they are v1.2, is there a newer one to download? I searched around the D-link site and couldn't find a download for D-Viewcam anyplace.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Edit to add: OK! I found the latest version of D-Viewcam v2.03. I am downloading it now to my XP machine. I'll be back to let you know if it installed OK!
Thanks for your help!
The latest version of D-Viewcam v2.03 loaded just fine on the XP (SP3) machines.
D-link needs to update the software on their packaged installation disks and update their tech support people as well! ;)
Please download D-ViewCam v3.0. works in 64 bit.
Works fine on Vista Home Prem 64-bit, and Windows 7 32-bit...
-
Woohoo, awesome guys. I'm downloading it now! :D
-
But be careful, current version does like Playback on 64-bit systems with a screen resolution above 1280x1024, as far as I have found out for now... Still trying to find out if there is a work-around possible (resource-files from MainConsole, or something similar)...
Read V3 Userguide, it states on last page it officially supports MS Windows XP Pro SP2, Vista and Windows 2003. It unofficially supports MS Windows 7, so my guess is that it would support SP3 on XP too. I have used V2 on XP Home without a hitch, I have not tried to install V3 on a Windows XP box...
So if you have problems getting V3 to run on an MS Windows XP Home SP3, then you just might be out of luck. Sorry.
ok, I am a rookie, I have xp sp3, i just want a d-view cam that will work. The ftp site wont work. I only have 2 cams and wil probably never have more than 4. the stupid v1.40 they send with the cams wont load.Please help asap, thanks for your time.
I have loaded the V3 on XP SP3 32 bit without a hitch, and it works fine. V1.x you should leave alone and put into the round archive. V2 you can install, but V3 is probably the way to go if your hardware allows for it. For 4 camera you will need at least a dual core processor and a bit of oomph. It does put a load onto the box. V3 more than V2...
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/ (http://ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/) is the main area, then select the D-View Cam folder for the latest D-ViewCam software...
I have V3 running fine on both my Vista 64bit laptop, and XP Media Center (SP3) desktop.
I am running DView-Cam V3.0 on Win7 x64 Home Premium and works well EXCEPT the playback ... gives an error of "missing or corrupted resource files - reinstall system to solve problem". Re install does NOT work. Remote playback does work though. Anyone found a fix or work around?
What resolution is your desktop set at?
Set resolution on 64-bit boxes no higher than 1280x1024 when running playback.exe. Worked for me
