Recently upgraded to win7 ult. on laptop. Printer is connected to shareport and works with other xp machines on network. When attempting to add printer to win 7 laptop, as it is searching for driver I get "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied" Driver has been updated and loaded on Win7 machine and if printer is connected to it directly it will recognize it and print. No other problems, connects fine to internet and is seen on network, just won't connect to printer.
Any ideas, Thanks

what version of sharepoint are you using

You may have configured your printer driver as a network (ethernet) printer or a/the windows firewall is blocking the driver to communicate.

SharePort Ver 1.1.o R1 (SXUPTP Dvr 3.3.4.0)
I'll check the firewall out. But if the printer works ok when connected directly to the win7 machine it wouldn't be the firewall correct??
Keep em coming,

Just by virtue of the "Access is denied" part, indicates that something within your OS/driver setup/something - is blocking you. Just a matter of finding out what it is. I would recommend resetting your printer' settings (hopefully it has the capability), so you have a clean slate to work from (no old settings getting in your way). I'm not very familiar with the "Shareport" function of the router so can't comment on that, but keep in mind that NO COMPUTER/or device on the computer can do anything without instructions/programming of some sort from software/device driver(s)....etc. In other words, that router function is governed by some instructions as well, so if it were me, I'd check into that too.
Hope it helps.

No, since the firewall blocks apps and drivers such as Shareport that connect to the outside.
