Title: Connecting to DNS-321
Post by: RBR on December 18, 2009, 07:20:41 AM
I'm considering purchasing one of these units for data storage on our corp net. I've been on the website but can't find an answer to a question. Running XP Pro, can I do a "Start/Run/ //ip address/volume name or unit name to connect to it?
I need to know pretty quickly. It's got to be purchased today to get on this year's books.

Thanks!

Yep, should be no problem.  Works for me.

Are you able to rename the volume name?

I'm not an expert (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night).  Based on what I've seen with the firmware and read on these boards, you can't change "Volume_1" but you can map to either \\ipaddress\Volume_1 or \\your_unit_name\Volume_1.

You can also create a single folder under Volume_1 and just map to it as well.
