Title: Ftp server error message
Post by: jose9790 on December 18, 2009, 02:26:45 PM
When tried to access my DNS 323 FTP server from windows explorer's URL address bar, the FTP server asks for an user name and password, then it pops up the following message:

"an error occurred opening that folder on the ftp server. make sure you have permissions to access that folder"

Details:
200 TYPE is now ASCII
227 Entering Passive Mode

Any ideas?

Is your DNS-323 configured for passive ftp?

The DNS has the factory default settings.  I don't know if the settings are active or passive. What is the recommended setting? I am going to use a lot Windows explorer address bar to access it.  I don't really want to install Filezilla everytime I want to access the folders.

The factory default settings has the ftp server disabled - since yours is prompting for a username & password, I think we can safely conclude that it is no longer at the default settings.
