Title: DIR-655 VOIP Phone Setup
Post by: donalduck on December 19, 2009, 02:07:34 AM
Currently I have a my modem setup in bridge mode and my Dir-655 as the router connecting to the internet via PPPoE (username and password). Works 100%.

I got a VOIP modem and phone combination today. For this setup to work, it seems I need to replace my current modem with the VOIP modem and establish the internet connection via PPPoE from there and not from my router.

Is it possible to setup my WAN PPPoE connection being established with the new modem/VOIP phone and not my Dir-655 router?

I put the Dir-655 in bridge mode and set it up as an access point as discussed in previous posts. Working fine. I can even access both devices via the web interface.

Just set up my DIR655.  I'm new to D-Link and my setup was simple.  I didn't mess with the DIR655 at all, just set up with factory settings right out of the box.  My Comcast modem connects to the internet port and my voip box connects to one of the lan ports, as do my other computers on my network.  Voip works great.
