I recently bought this for my kids to play their xbox 360 on. We have a Belkin Pre-N we are using now and it lags and drops my laptop since kids starting using x360 and an on-line game. This was to be a Xmas present so they can use xbox live with their friends.
I am glad I came here before deciding to open and install tonight. I am a bit concerned about the problems with it. We have a Dell (1.5yrs) desktop that will be wired, my Dell XPS (almost 4yrs and Intel Pro 2915ABG card), and then the x360 (wired, but was thinking about a bridge) to connect. Should I still use this DIR-655 H/W Ver. A4 and F/W Ver. 1.21?
Should I return and buy something else? Any recommendation appreciated.
Laptop has MSFT XP, Desktop is Vista.
I am not computer wiz, but do read manuals and came here to download and read before opening, glad I did.

I'd say yes, but keep your 1.21 firmware for now. I had my Nephews over several times on my 1.21 firmware (they always brought the Xbox for some odd reason! :D)and the Xbox/655 was a killer combo IMO.

I have a fairly new 655 Version A4 running 1.21. Other than reserve some DHCP entries and setting DNS to OpenDNS it is running with all default settings. We have 3 Xbox 360's being used as media center extenders as well as a wired server, 2 wireless pc's and a wireless printer. We have never had a problem with the 655. The kids are always playing games over Live and I get most of my TV streaming from Hulu. Just keep it at 1.21 until the 1.3x firmware has a stable release and you should be fine.
