Title: question about ftps with DNS-343
Post by: LtBlight on December 23, 2009, 01:20:38 PM
Hello ! I bought the DNS-343 and I want to create a ftps with it. The firmware of my DNS is the 1.03.
In Advanced/FTP Server/FTP Server Settings/Port, I can choose the port. I don't want the port 21 but 990 for the ftps. And when I apply the port 990, the message "invalid port number" shows.

Why I can't create a ftps with the DNS-343? Can i make a mistake or not to create my ftps with the DNS-343? If I make a mistake, someone else can help me to create a ftps with the DNS-343?

Thanks for your help.

I believe it states right next to the port that 990 is not a port that can be used.

Some ports are reserved for specific uses; here's a list of "Well Known Ports" and their purposes.

Often times, port support is provided as per product design specifications.

How to you tell the DNS-343 to enable SSL/TLS support?  It does not appear to be enabled by default and there isn't an option on the FTP configuration screen to explicitly enable this functionality like on the DNS-323.  I am running firmware 1.03.

Use an FTP client that supports SSL/TLS and connect to the FTP server using SSL/TLS in the client app.
