Title: NTP (time) seems to cause for reboot of router

Had some suspicion on the NTP issue for the last days.

Using other than the default D-link NTP servers causes constant reboots.

But what i also noticed is that the NTP time synchronisation is always in the [INFO] log at the time the router is rebooting. Soft in the way that the old logs are still available but the uptime counter is restarted.

In this soft reboot it also determines the network speed and comes back into the login screen.

NTP servers it does not like are:
- pool.ntp.org (causes the router to keep rebooting)

NTP servers it does like are:
- Dlinks default 2 servers
- ntp1.belbone.be (used on my XP desktop PC without issues also)

Hi

You have to use: "nl.pool.ntp.org" then your
router can recognise NTP address.

http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/europe (http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/europe)

And again it is at the same time that the router rebooted: approx 15:03 !

Strange that around the occurring reboots a log regarding Time is there.

Have you tried using the one Windows uses (if using windows)?

There should be a few choices in there as I use time-nw.nist.gov from that list and router does not reboot but time syncs time fine.

used the Dlink standard.

Used the nl.pool.ntp.org but this immediatly start the reboot sequence.

So now i use : ntp1.belbone.be.
Close to the Netherlands as well:)

This seems to be working like the Dlink predefined ones

Just for your info: whether the time server is close by or far away really makes no difference. Or ofcourse you were joking  ;)

I have the same problem.  Both the D-Link NTP servers fail to synchronise according to my log.  I then tried the ca.pool.ntp.org and that sent my router into a downward rebooting spiral.

Open your clock in the taskbar and use one of the servers from that list.

I use time-nw.nist.gov as that is the closest to me.

Have you type that into your router of are you talking about windows? Want if we put another timeserver into the router. the router continously reboots.

You have to get the correct one for your area and Windows should have that info in the clock.
