I'd say definitely hardware and if it's only a couple of months old, and therefore probably still under warranty, so get it replaced under warranty.
If it's out of warranty - get yourself a small screwdriver and take it apart.
Remove the front and the drives and then turn it around - there are four rubber plugs on the rear panel covering the screws that hold the rear panel in, remove those, remove the rear panel and there are more screws underneath it that hold the guts inside, remove those and slide everything through the front.
There are two "paddle cards" that plug in between the drives and the main board - try reseating them, grab a voltmeter and check for power supply voltages on the drive connectors, I doubt that there is much more than that you can do - unless of course, you have the expertise & the equipment, in which case you probably don't need any further guidance
