DNS-323 and Xbox 360
« on: January 04, 2010, 12:34:36 AM »

Hi

I'm looking for some help getting my Xbox 360 to see my movies on my DNS-323. I am running the latest 1.08beta firmware and my xbox will not show my movie files. I can see all the folders just not the movie themselves. It work a treat on my PS3 so if anyone could give me some Xbox setup pointers it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Same issue here.  In digging around xbox360 now says streaming is only supported by windows media center or zune. Is this true? It does not appear to be that way in the past.

My problem is that I can see the folders which all contain videos however it keeps telling me no videos found?? But when i place a video in the root (Volume 1) then it will show up and play just fine?? However that is not practical when you have movies and tv shows?? I am testing one more thing tonight and I might have to put my DNS 323 for sale... I have a Synology unit and it works fine so I know that the Xbox is set up properly and working.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem...and I think it might be the root folder issue...

If I change the root folder to the "VIDEOS" folder I've created on the DNS, I can't seem to see any of my movies in the "movies" sub folder that I've created within the "videos" folder. However, I also have a "tv shows" sub folder within the "videos" folder and I can see them just fine. Go figure. I'm gonna try to change the root directory back to the default on the DNS and see if this makes a difference...

I found the issue...

One of my movie files had some weird characters in the title...renamed the file and BAM! it's working like a charm again.

So check all your video files and make sure they don't include and weird characters (*, (), [], &, and so on)
