DIR-615 and Aventail VPN issue
« on: January 05, 2010, 10:29:26 AM »

My new DIR-615, rev. C, is constantly dropping my VPN connection.

I am connected to the router wirelessly.

I upgraded the router to the latest firmware (3.11).

From my limited knowledge, the issue seems to be related to the DNS or the DHCP server (guessing from the various results and resolution I obtained by using ipconfig commands).

Please let me know what specific information I need to post to get help with this.

I'd prefer not going back to my old Linksys router.

Thanks,

Kramer

Why are you assuming DNS/DHCP? Once you have successfully obtained an IP with DNS from DHCP, your Windows machine wont drop its IP unless the network connection is lost or the lease expires.
How long does it take before its kicked off the VPN?
Does the machine hold on to the wireless network reliably when youre not on VPN?
To be certain do a ping -t to a known host for the duration of time that normally occurs before youre kicked off the VPN
