UPnP and WMP 12
« on: January 20, 2010, 08:25:49 AM »

I am not able to access uPnP content from my DNS-323 FW 1.07 from a WMP 12 on Windows 7 64 bits. I get following error:

"The remote media library did not allow the connection."

Searching the forum I found these posts with exactly same problem:

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=9697.0
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=7325.0
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=10056.0
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=992.0

but I don't find any final statement.

1.- Is DNS-323 uPnP server failing? Or is it WMP 12?

2.- Has anybody such configuration working?

Thanks in advance,

  Chemi.

Same issue here on DNS-321...

Also, even though all shares are mapped and I can watch movies that I originally set-up, it will not recognize ANY new media added to the share in windows media center.  It is driving me nuts.

Same here with firmware 1.07. My Oppo BDP-83 blueray player doesn't work with DNS-323 UPnP server. I can see it but can't list or play any media. No problem connecting to WMP or TVersity Media servers with BDP-83. I ended up adding DNS-323 stored media to WMP and/or TVersity and streaming them from there...

I got the Same problem....

I have a Folder Shared and that same folder is also set has the root for the uPnP Media Server.

the DNS-323 uPnP Media Server works fine when I use my Xbox 360... I can play any AVI file I have.
And with the SAMBA shares I can any file from my DNS-323 to a WD TV Live... even MKV videos at 1080p.
Also tried via Media Server... and it also works fine.

But If I use Windows Media Player 12 that came with Windows 7 64 bits,
I can play any file via the SAMBA share, but if I go into the WMP Library,
the DNS-323 does apear under "Other Libraries", but if I try to open the "video" Folder
I get the same error msg as chemi:
"The remote media library did not allow the connection."
"Please contact the device manufacturer for more information."

I also have a Linksys WRT610N, with a 16GB USB key, and I activated the uPnP on it... and
it works fine In WMP, Xbox, and WDTVLive

Edit:
Forgot to mention that I am using Firmware v1.08b8

I have same issue.
When I try to access to media via upnp from WMP 12 (windows 7 x64 ultimate), I see similar message ("The remote media library did not allow the connection").
Any suggestions to resolve this issue?

Doesn't seem like theres much point to this forum if theres only people asking questions with no one answering - but hey ill still give my two cents anyway!

How can I put the upnp capability of the dlink dns server to use?

I can't connect with WMP either. I am trying it on the same network but I think it would be really good if you could access the server via upnp externally??

As you could stream all your music and media from where ever you are.

If anyone knows why we all seem to be getting the same problem, knows how or if you can connect using upnp externally or better still knows how to get any use from the upnp functionality at all that would be helpful?

Thanks

Same problem here. Thought I'm glad that I didn't get caught in a rathole of trying to figure out what _I_ did wrong.

I did find this... http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=11104.msg66884#msg66884... it appears to be a known problem.

This is a known issue and will require and update to the UPnP AV media server which will be implemented in a future firmware update.

In 1.10 firmware. Attempting to push that out quickly after the 1.09 launch (cloud backup launch).
