LG BD390 (Blu-ray w/ UPnP) + DNS-323 - cant see all folders
« on: February 06, 2010, 07:59:31 AM »

I have a LG BD-390 Blu-ray player attached to my network that includes a DNS-323.  I am trying to play video files off of the DNS-323 and I can connect and play some files, but other folders are not showing up when I browse the DNS-323 on the BD390.  For instance, I have five subdirectories in my "Video" folder but I can only see two of them on the BD390.  The other three are not hidden and do not have weird names or anything.  When I use TVersity to play the files it accesses them fine, but the whole point is I dont want to have to turn on my computer and use TVersity to stream the files when the DNS-323 should be able to act as a server on its own.  I have tried refreshing the UPnP server on the DNS-323 to no avail.  Any ideas what the problem might be?  I'm stumped.  ???

Might be due to file types in your different folders.

Try this: take one of your files known to work with the BD-390, make four copies of it with slightly different file names, move them to the other folders (one per folder), and check if the BD-390 can read them.

If it can, then your problem may be caused by limitations on file format compatibility of the BD-390, in which case there's little you can do but hope LG issues new firmware supporting more formats.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that all the files are .avi files which are supported by the BD390.  Also, oddly in the folders that are showing up it is showing duplicates of every file even though there is actually only one copy of the files in the folder.  Odd.  I'm wondering if there is a way to delete the UPnP database for the DNS-323 and force it to build a new one?  I tried copying one of the .avi files from a non-appearing folder into one of the folders I can access on the BD390 and it didn't show up.

Ok I think I have solved it, but I dont know why it was happening.  I just made a brand new video folder (different name) and moved everything over there and refreshed the server and its all there.  Weird that the issue occurred but I'm glad it's resolved for now.
