Completely clueless
« on: May 08, 2010, 09:34:29 PM »

We had a friend set up our wireless network. We have no idea as to where the manual is. Have an iBook that is outdated, so I can't upload the PDF file of the manual. Just got a new PC laptop and want to connect it to the wireless. I have no idea as to what the WPA/WEP/network key is and neither does my husband. How do I reset the router so that I can have both computers in our wireless system? I also cannot access the 192.168.0.1 page either, it says our password is incorrect.

And please be as 5 year old friendly in terms as you can. I understand computers to a point, but not computer terminology.

Thanks to anyone who can help me!!

Quoted from page 94 of the DIR-615 manual:

2. What can I do if I forgot my password?
If you forgot your password, you must reset your router. Unfortunately this process will change all your settings back to the factory defaults.
To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.
