Non-steathed ports & unexplained button
« on: January 16, 2010, 01:53:15 PM »

I was curious if there is a way to stealth ports 0,1 as they show as closed instead of stealth on online port scanners. Also on the right side of the dir-615 there is a small square button that isn't documented anywhere in the manual. When pressed this button flashes blue for 20 - 30 secs then stops. Does anyone know what this is for?

Thanks in advance.

The side button would the the "Wireless Protected Setup" feature.  This will either "reset" the WPS "PIN" code or activate the WPS "broadcast" over the wireless network.

You can use port forwading to forward those ports to an unused IP-address. But there is nothing wrong with closed. Stealth (filtered) port doesn't answer anything when closed port answers "go away!". So no security risks with closed ports.
