How to stop outbound file sharing
« on: April 09, 2010, 06:10:42 AM »

I've tried to ban my kids using limewire and frostwire and other p2p programs but they keep installing them.

Is there a way I can configure the DIR-655 to block people getting into my network and grabbing shared files, whilst still allowing my son outbound access, and download from legetimate sites/programs?

Our ISP is now counting outbound data (which sucks, since they dont pay for it), and when my sons share files, this eats up our monthly allowance.

The latest is frostwire, which is configured for port 13507, wich I've tried to block, but it is still functioning properly. The block was in an ACL under access control

Do like I do, tell the kids if they put the programs on their computers then they lose the privilage of using the computers. You could also set their computers up so that You have an admin account which is password protected and then set them up as limited users so that they can't install programs.

I was about to suggest using the Access Control feature but apparently it doesn't work unless you subscribe to SecureSpot.
