Dropped Packets & Errors DIR 655 & Atheros 928x
« on: March 08, 2010, 07:08:33 AM »

Any help would be appreciated.  I have an ASUS computer with the Atheros 928x network adaptor and am using the DIR-655 router.  I play a MMO and I am often disconnected from the game or get huge lag spikes/close to diconnecting.  Two others in my house play the same game.  Neither of them have had problems.  One of them got the same computer/setup as me and now he is having the same problem.  The only one who is not having problems is the one with the very old computer.

We have updated all the drivers including the network adapter, router firmware, and all devices (video, sound).  We have opened ports & set port forwarding as suggested by the MMO.  That seemed to improve performance.  We have changed the channels, seems  to  help a bit, but still dropping packets and lots of errors (only dropped in wireless, LAN and WAN have nothing dropped).

I would really appreciate some help on settings so these pieces of hardware can communicate better.

Thank  you very much!
