Hi,

I've had my DNS-323 for a few days now and it's been great so far I have two suggestions for future features which some other NAS devices have and the DNS-323 would benefit from:

 - Usenet downloading client, this would compliment the BitTorrent & Web/FTP downloader nicely.
 - Wake-on-LAN support, some of us don't always have our PC's on (hence the DNS-323!) but it would be nice to be able to power it on from a remote location (port forwarding to the DNS-323's web page) and then send a magic packet to my desktop to power it up.

Does anyone else agree with me on these features?

I think Usenet Newsgroups are too "manual labor intensive" to do downloading automatically.  I assume you're talking about binary newsgroups?

Indeed I am on about binary newsgroups! I didn't know people still used the text groups these days :p

a binary leech client on the DNS (with nzb support) Would be phenominal!  I doubt a basic leech client would be out of scope for the DNS323.  However repair+extract ect..  would definitly be out of the question.

Oh,well.  Newsleecher is very powerful, I doubt I would even use a basic leech client on the dns anyway.

Yeah, I don't think it would be powerful enough to repair+extract but that can be done on the PC anyway - just having the ability to download with your PC off would be a massive bonus for me (and I'm imagining many others too). NZB support and Newzbin ID support (like SABnzbd+) would be awesome. Infact, with SABnzbd+ being open source and multi platform (and with the DNS-323 running Linux) most of the work is done anyway, if the D-Link devs take the SABnzbd+ code and rip out the repair+extract parts it shouldn't take too much work!

I you are able to load the DD-WRT or Tomato firmware on your router, you should have no problem performing WOL.  Simply HTTPS to the router, log-in, and select the WOL tab.
