Today, for the first time, I tried to setup the print server.  The process is easy enough.  I got it displayed on both my Win 7 64 bit and my XP Pro boxes.  Now, when I actually try to print something, well, that is the snag!  The print job just sit at the print queue and does nothing!  Is there any trick to do this?

Nevermind. 

I don't think it is a good solution...  however, it works.  I use the Shareport util and I can print to it.  I did not think that I need the Shareport program, as long as it works, I guess.  The only problem with Shareport is that only one machine can connect to it at a time!

FWIW, I've been using the print server function for several years, it's worked fine for me from Windows 2000 through Windows 7.

Actually there are a few - here's the one I use.

Install the printer with it directly connected to the computer (the instance you're using with the SharePort can be used) and then go to the printer folder, select the printer and go to properties, select the ports tab and add new port, add a local port  \\<ip_of_DNS-323>\lp where <ip_of_DNS-323> is the address of your DNS-323.

Fordem, I done the adding a port, however, it did not work.  That's when I gave up and use the Shareport util.  I find it strange that the IP port did not work??!!

The curious thing for mine is on Windows 7, there is no port that is specified, the ports screen has all of the ports dimmed.  Same with XP, but the printer works just fine.

I know what you mean, my is all greyed out as well.  I guess that I will stick with Shareport for now.  On a side note, what version of Win 7 are you running?  I am running 64 bit.

I'm running 64-bit Ultimate.  Since Microsoft gave it to me for doing the beta, I felt obligated to run it.
