Select specific phone line
« on: March 13, 2010, 09:47:31 AM »

I recently installed the DVX-2000MS-10 system and everything is working great.  However, I cannot figure out how to select a specific PSTN phone line when placing an outbound call.  It is very important that we have this feature, as one of our PSTN lines is actually a PBX line to the hospital connected to our medical building.  No matter which line button I press on the DPH-128MS phone, the gateway always hands off the call to the first available line in the DVG-3104MS gateway.  We have 4 PSTN lines attached to that gateway.  Perhaps I am missing something simple?  Thanks for helping!

The feature is not supported on the Phone system. The DVG-3104MS selects the available line(s) to send out calls.

Thanks.  Any chance for future firmware and/or software upgrades to support this feature or any workarounds known?  Will some other SIP phone support this feature under Response Point and Voice Center?  It is a shame the phones are billed as "multi-line" and have the necessary programmable buttons with indicator lights, but really can't be used like that.  I think this is a basic feature that all decent business phone systems should have.  Even our old outdated Merlin system had this capability.

If I understand the Prefix correctly, If you get another gatway, you'd be able to set the 8 and the 9 (Not sure if that is just for IP/Analog or if you can set one gateway to 8 and another 9) but something hopefully the moderator can elaborate one.

I'm not the moderator, but I can tell you that I just installed 2 DVG-3104MS PSTN gateways, hoping that I could assign prefix "9" to one gateway (for 4 lines) and prefix "8" to the other gateway (for the other 2 lines we have).  Unfortunately, you can't do this.  The option is grayed out.  It defaults to prefix "9" for BOTH gateways.  I understand that if I had installed one PSTN gateway and one digital gateway, then "8" could be assigned to one and "9" to the other.  The help files and user manuals are not clear about this because they make it sound like you can select whichever of the two prefixes you want for each voice service.  But I believe they meant to say each DIFFERENT TYPE of gateway (voice service) can be assigned either an 8 or a 9.
