Hi,
Just got DNS-321 last week and I'm currently in the process of configuring and copying files. I have a few questions about security.
1. I am planning to stream media, backup files and store all documents on this for my laptop, PC and media player. Is there any way I can restrict access to the folders so that "PC User A" can only see select folders while another user sees everything? Right now, if someone is able to access the network (either through My Network Places or mapping the drive), they will be able to see the whole NAS folder structure with read/write access. What security features in the network or in NAS itself that I should configure/enable to make this work?
2. I set up the media player's protocol to uPnp and the NAS is set up as uPnp AV server. I noticed when I access the Mp3's I see folders that I never created (e.g. Genre, Artists, etc.) and the contents on the folders are very disorganized. Is there a software or something similar to Windows Media Player library that will allow me to edit the tags so it will show up properly under the various uPnP folders?
4. I'm thinking of opening a port so I can remotely view and access the files in the NAS drive. Is the security strong enough to not worry about getting hacked?
Thanks!
