will this work to create a vlan?
« on: April 02, 2010, 06:57:16 AM »

I have the need to separate some traffic in my home network and I thought about replacing my 4500 with Netgear's WNDR3700 but I'm very happy with the performance of the 4500. We can run 2 xbox360 consoles and stream Netflix without missing a beat.  So I was thinking about getting the GS108T switch from netgear in order to divide my network.  I was going to place the two 360s on ports 1 & 2 of the 4500 leave 3 open and use port 4 for the new switch.  Then use the switch to create a separate VLAN for this one pc the I wish to isolate from everyone else.  My other wired devices would connect to the new switch.  Will my other devices be able to use the my wireless printer via the DGL4500?  I think they will and they would be isolated from the VLAN.
What do you think??

Yes, you will still be able to print via your wireless printer. I'm assuming your printer is connected to the 4500.
