I just moved and the dlink router which worked fine on dsl before won't connect to the comcast cable modem (thomson).  I followed all the directions I could find online (resetting both router & cable modem, copying computer mac address, etc.) and still nothing. 

When I look at the status in the dlink config, it says the network is incorrectly setup and refers me to the logs.

The one error entry in the log says "The addressing of the Internet side learnt thru DHCP conflicts with the addressing selected for the LAN side.  Internet communications will be disabled until you have changed the LAN side addressing to resolve the problem." 

I have played around with the settings on both the cable modem and router for three days to no avail.  Does anyone have this configuration?  Can anyone offer any advice?

You shouldn't need to do any cloning of MAC addresses to get it to work.  Power down the computer the router and the cable modem. Make sure that the Ethernet cable from the Cable Modem is in the WAN port and power on the cable modem, let the modem completely power up and then turn on the router and let it completely power up, then turn on the computer.

Look on the Device status page to see what IP address you are getting from the cable modem, if you are still getting DHCP error, you need to go to SETUP>Network Settings and change the Router IP address in the top box and change your DHCP address Range to match.

You shouldn't need to do any cloning of MAC addresses to get it to work.  Power down the computer the router and the cable modem. I've powered down & back up in the order you suggest, but it hasn't helped.  When I go to the status page, there are two places where it lists an IP address.  One is in the WAN section (0.0.0.0) and the other is in the LAN section (192.168.0.2).  Is one of these supposed to be assigned by the cable modem?  The LAN one matches what is in the network settings.  I did make sure the cable modem's range of ip addresses included the LAN IP for the router (192.168.0.2).

Go to the Setup>Internet Page and select Maual setup.  Check your settings here make sure its set up correctly.  Most cable Internet should be set as DHCP here.

The address you receive from the cable modem should not match your local network.  I get a 67.xxx.yyy.zzz adress from my ISP but my Internal Network runs on 192.168.10.x

Yeah, I followed the directions online for configuring the internet with a cable modem (it's set to dynamic ip (DHCP) or something along those lines). The directions also included copying my computer's mac address to the router (I imagine so that the cable modem assigns the ip address formerly given to my computer to the cable modem).  Nothing I did helped get an ip address from the cable modem.
