I had my 321 drive mapping working for over a year when I was running Windoze XP, but last week when I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional I was unable to map a share to my 321 until I finally tried enabling LLTD (Link Layer Topology Discovery).
'Easy-Search' would intermittently see the drive, and when it did, I would click connect to map the drive it asks for the username and password, and even with admin and the correct password a "Windows Security" box pops up and asks for the password, I enter it and it says it doesn't accept it. It's the same admin/password I use to log into the D-Link configuration utility, so I'm not sure why it doesn't accept the same password?
I was able to ping the drive by both IP and name, but cannot for the life of me map it as a network drive.
Someone on another thread here had posted to try the following:
Configure Windows 7 to connect to Samba servers
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy
Local Policies - Security Options
Network security: LAN Manager authentication level
Send LM & NTLM responses
Minimum session security for NTLM SSP
Disable Require 128-bit encryption
I did that to no avail.
I know this shouldn't be rocket science, but does anyone have any ideas it wasn't working until I enabled LLTD? Interestingly the D-Link LLTD config screen says "Note: Enabling LLTD may cause decreased network performance. If you are experiencing decreased network performance, try disabling LLTD."
I don't know if my performance dropped or not as I didn't benchmark the XP vs Win7 performance, but it seems to imply that it's not the most efficient way to use drive mapping in Vista/Win7

TIA,
Brian
