Looking to buy a 2nd 655 as an AP
« on: May 03, 2010, 05:28:57 PM »

House is relatively large 2 story.   I use the DIR-655 on the main floor for my laptop (work), wireless printer and another work desktop.  It also serves as the router for the entire home network.  Currently have an old wbr-2310 on the second floor configured as an access point and serving kids laptop, 2 ipod touches, a Wii and an Xbox 360. The wbr-2310 appear to have stopped working. So....

Looking to buy something used off of ebay.  I've seen several 655's that are HW version A2.  What's the difference between version A2 and version A4?

Any other suggestions for viable replacement?

Thanks.

Sounds good to me.  Because of the combo DSL Modem/Router my isp supplied I have been running my 655 as an AP since I got it.  Other than the usual sort of wireless problems with other surrounding networks I have had no issues running like this.  With a compatible N card you sould be fine.

(Sorry but I have no idea about the hardware version differences.)
